Mrs. Palin ended her message by informing Mr. Cohen that her daughter thinks he is "a piece of ****".
She continued: "This "legit opportunity" to honor American Vets and contribute to a "legit Showtime historical documentary" was requested of me via a speakers bureau".
Before Palin's post, Drudge Report chief Matt Drudge claimed that Baron Cohen's list of prank victims includes some liberal targets as well.
Palin says she and one of her daughters were met by a man she assumes was Baron Cohen, who was heavily disguised as a bogus US military veteran and in a wheelchair.
She went on to state: 'The disrespect of our U.S. military and middle-class Americans via Cohen's foreign commentaries under the guise of interview questions was perverse'.
She claims that Cohen disguised himself as a wounded veteran for the sit-down, and that to cap things off the production team knowingly dropped her and her daughter off at the wrong airport, knowing they would not be able to get a flight back to Alaska.
"Out of respect for what I was led to believe would be a thoughtful discussion with someone who had served in uniform, I sat through a long "interview" full of Hollywoodism's disrespect and sarcasm - but finally had enough and literally, physically removed my mic and walked out, much to Cohen's chagrin", she said.
Palin called on Showtime to donate the proceeds of the show to veterans groups, which she accused Cohen of mocking. "Mock politicians and innocent public personalities all you want, if that lets you sleep at night, but HOW DARE YOU mock those who have fought and served our country". After refusing to take our calls to help get us out of the bind they'd put us in for three days, I wrote this off as yet another example of the sick nature that is media-slash-entertainment today.
Whether or not you find all of this amusing will depend entirely upon how you feel about both Sarah Palin, the concept of "ambush comedy" and Cohen's methodology.
News of the half-hour satire came after Baron Cohen teased a video on Twitter of former Vice President Dick Cheney autographing a "waterboard kit". "Every honorable American Vet should feel the same". It's certainly not my place to tell you whether or not this is extremely amusing, but in my capacity as the News Editor of this site, it is my place to remind you that Who Is America? will air this Sunday evening at 9PM CST on Showtime.
At press time, Showtime had not publicly responded to Sarah Palin.
