Maybe the folks behind City of Lies will try to reshoot some scenes with a new actor replacing Depp if they don't want to drop the movie entirely.
Gregg "Rocky" Brooks alleges that Depp "forcefully punched" him twice in the ribs after the actor was told the film's production was being stopped for the day.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Johnny Depp's crime thriller City of Lies won't be getting a theatrical release after all.
Global Road Entertainment didn't respond to a request for comment, but it's quite possible that the film was pulled from the release schedule due to all the negative press around Depp. Despite Rowling's support of Depp's career, however, many have been concerned about his overall well-being, and his alleged 2017 on-set behavior may be negatively affecting another Depp film. The film, co-starring Forest Whitaker, follows Depp as an LAPD detective named Russell Pool as he attempts to investigate the still unsolved murder of B.I.G.in 1997, just six months after the death of his rival, Tupac Shakur. Brooks also alleges that he was sacked when he wouldn't agree not to sue, according to Associated Press reports.
The enigmatic actor's has had a hard summer, including a Rolling Stone story that called his lifestyle and finances into question; ongoing fallout from domestic violence allegations made in 2016 by his ex-wife Amber Heard; as well as a lawsuit stemming from the shooting of City of Lies.
Assuming that City of Lies remains in purgatory, Depp will be seen next in the upcoming Harry Potter spinoff Fantastic Beasts: the Crimes of Grindelwald.
