However, there are certain restrictions to the McDonald's McGold Card as it only allows you to buy two meals per week (no more than $7) for 50 years, which amounts to about $36,400. Consumers can enter once a day by either placing an order through the McDonald's Mobile Order & Pay app or emailing an entry.
And while there was previously no way for us ordinary folks to get our hands on the card, McDonald's has announced that it will randomly give one away at the end of August. The limit is one entry per day - regardless of method of entry. The prize is valued at $52,350.
The victor of the 24-carat gold card will have the option of choosing a cash alternative worth around £780 to spend at the chain. The prize comes in the form of a $1,000 credit on the McDonald's app, $35,400 in cash and $15,600 to offset taxes.
"This is going to cost them less than one corporate Christmas party", said Rob Frankel, a Los Angeles-based branding strategy expert. To qualify, you have to download the mobile app, and then place and order and pay for it via the app.

The victor will be alerted via email or on their McDonald's app.
How do you want to spend the next 50 years of your life? The card is actually a gold plated phone case that will be awarded to the competition's victor.
McDonald's isn't the first to run a lifetime free food promotion.
