Fury's comeback continues with a showdown against the experienced Pianeta in Belfast where Wilder will be present at ringside in his role as a television analyst for BT Sport, who are screening the event. Negotiations for the two to meet in December are at an advanced stage and should Fury overcome Pianeta, it is likely one of the division's super-fights will move a step closer.
During his shopping centre training session, Fury told Sky Sports News - see video below - that he can't wait to fight in front of his American foe, as he'll show the WBC heavyweight champion how it's done.
Speaking through a translator, Italian-born Pianeta said he rates Fury highly, but the 33-year-old vowed to give the fight his best, and said he was looking forward to it. "He's a big strong fella and he knows that if he wins he will fight Wilder instead of me", Fury said.
The former world champion will take on Germany-based Italian Francesco Pianeta in Belfast on Saturday night aiming to follow up his return to the ring in June with another victory. Which is why I want to see them all fight each other the way we did in the last golden age for heavyweights.
"He's southpaw which is a lot more awkward because there aren't many of them in the division, so it's hard to get sparring".
"I want to win a world title again so I'll have to raise my game".
A Wilder challenge would somewhat accelerate that journey but Davison - who revealed to BBN the details of Fury's camp for Pianeta - is confident Tyson is ready for the leap. "Judge me on that comment - a heavyweight Sugar Ray Leonard", added the Mancunian. After having three years out of the ring and after ballooning to 28 stone and then down to 18 and a half stone - it's a bad awful uphill battle, to lose that weight is mentally and physically draining, to train continuously for 12 months, you have to have a want.
"He's a very unsafe opponent but in my mind I think I'm the greatest heavyweight that's ever been born so I should handle Francesco Pianeta. All I can promise is to put on a good fight", Fury said.
