While the change sounds minor, Musk said the modified color palette will help to "simplify manufacturing".
With Musk wanting to get this show on the road, he most likely realized there's just no time for frivolous things like sparkly paint.
This streamlining could be because Musk told employees on Friday that Tesla's about to have the most wonderful quarter in history.
Shah, a self-described "bull" on Tesla's prospects, lowered his rating on the stock to "neutral" from "buy".

In a Tweet by CEO Elon Musk, it was announced that Tesla would be further limiting the paint choices available on its website when ordering a Model 3, and in addition, quietly raised the price on its dual-motor cars.
"We occasionally adjust pricing and available options to best reflect the value of our products and to streamline our manufacturing operations", a Tesla spokesperson said of the plan to drop some color options. After lowering the cost of its dual-motor vehicle just one month ago, Tesla has raised the retail price of its all-wheel-drive auto back from $54,000 to $55,000, representing a 20 percent increase from its single-motor Model 3 equipped with a long-range battery.
