A drug-addicted Missouri mom was busted this week for swiping pain medication from her terminally ill daughter - and taking it herself, cops said.
Police said Ballweg confessed to being addicted to opioids and using her daughter's medications.
CM had been prescribed fentanyl and oxycodone for pain, but medical staff at the hospice noted they were concerned she was not receiving her medication, officials said.
Police say the results showed no signs of the medications, even though Ballweg repeatedly requested refills ahead of schedule.
Carol Ballweg, 46, has been charged with four felony counts of stealing a controlled substance and two misdemeanor counts of abusing an elderly, disabled or vulnerable person, according to online court records.
Medical staff had reportedly made numerous calls to a hotline regarding the daughter's care.
Ballweg, who was her daughter's primary caregiver, admitted to police that she had been withholding the painkillers from her daughter so she could feed her addiction.
The Troy Missouri Police Department had received a call from Troy Family Practice on Monday about Ballweg requesting to have the prescriptions filled earlier than they should several times, Fox 2 Now reported. They also noted CM had developed bed sores while under the care of her mother.
Ballweg's bond has been set at $100,000 cash, with the condition that she have no contact with the victim.
