According to TMZ Selena flew into a "downward spiral" after seeking medical care for an "alarmingly low" white blood cell count twice in the last two weeks.
She took yet another self-enforced break from social media at the end of September, saying she wanted to step back and feel grateful "for the moment she'd been given".
Although she was released a few days later, Gomez was re-admitted to the hospital last week after her low blood cell count persisted, leading to an emotional breakdown. One of Gomez's relatives then drove the "despondent" singer-actress from her home in Studio City, Calif.to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.
"She realised she needed to seek additional help for her ongoing emotional issues".
We're sending Selena lots of love and hope she is doing well. She is now a mental health facility for treatment.
As of now, Selena is currently at an East Coast psychiatric facility and is receiving dialectical behavior therapy, aka DBT.
It comes after Selena posted on 23rd September that she was taking a break from social media, and admitting to fans on an Instagram Live that she has suffered from depression for the past five years. The second hospitalization caused her to become very depressed.
Only a few months after that, in the summer of 2017, Gomez revealed she received a kidney transplant from her best friend Francia Raisa due to complications from lupus. But, the doctors advised her not to do so. She wrote: "Just remember- negative comments can hurt anybody's feelings".
