Messi returns to Barcelona squad following broken arm

Postado Novembro 10, 2018

Messi has missed nearly three weeks of action with a fractured arm but was back in training this week and was named in Ernesto Valverde's 19-man squad for the match against Betis.

Ousmane Dembele will not be involved after the Frenchman reportedly missed training without permission on Thursday.

Dembele has yet to settle at Barca, and he this week angered the club over a non-appearance at training over a bout of gastroenteritis.

The 21-year-old was overlooked by manager Ernesto Valverde in the starting XI in last month's 5-1 win over Real Madrid despite the absence of Lionel Messi due to a broken arm. "Dembele has incredible talent and we want to help him show it some day".

Defender Umtiti has been out with a knee injury since September.

"Everyone who is selected is in good shape", Valverde said.

"We will see tomorrow if Messi is ready to play for 90 minutes or not, but he's lost the fear from his fall already".

Messi joins Samuel Umtiti in returning to the squad as the Catalan club look to strengthen their position at the top of the table against 4th-placed Betis on Sunday.

However, Philippe Coutinho will not feature due to a hamstring strain.

"We have taken a step forward and the players have got a bit of their confidence back", he said.
