Timberwolves trade Jimmy Butler to 76ers

Postado Novembro 10, 2018

The Jimmy Butler saga reportedly is over.

The Athletic reported Saturday that Minnesota has traded Butler and Justin Patton to Philadelphia for Robert Covington, Dario Saric and Jerryd Bayless in addition to a 2022 second-round draft pick.

ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski was the first to report the trade.

Minnesota president and coach Tom Thibodeau decided late Friday night after a fifth straight loss that the team could no longer function with Butler as a part of it, sources said.

However, the Sixers reportedly made the deal with the expectation that Butler will re-sign with the franchise next Summer.

Charania is reporting that the Sixers and Timberwolves will have a trade call on Monday to finalize the deal. The Marquette product is a four-time All-Star, two-time All-NBA selection and four-time All-Defensive Team selection.

Butler has had a standing trade request since September.

Following the 2018-19 season, Butler will be an unrestricted free agent and Philadelphia had previously expressed interest in adding Butler to make up a big three with Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons.

The package is pretty surprising considering the reported deal that almost brought Butler to Miami.
