In a social media video, Perry said Thursday he meant to do the good deed anonymously, "but nothing stays secret these days".
Perry explained, 'Trying to do this anonymously but, um, due to some circumstances y'all know how nothing stays secret these days, so, I just wanted to go ahead and tell you'. That covered all but one penny of the balances.
Christmas came early for a bunch of lucky Walmart customers. because Tyler Perry just picked up their tabs. The company was quick to express its gratitude for his act of kindness.
"So Merry Christmas to everybody", he added. Tyler Perry just reminded everyone of the true meaning of the season.
Perry's gesture applied to layaways that were already in the stores as of 9:30 a.m. local time on December 6. Shortly after TMZ reported that the director and actor had written big checks to two stores in the Atlanta area, Perry confirmed the news on Twitter.
