The official Deadpool movie Twitter account has posted some Savage FAQs for Deadpool 2′s upcoming family-friendly and PG-13 cut titled Once Upon a Deadpool. This is obviously just a fun ad, and you can always expect Deadpool's response to be just as cynical and jaded as your average film fan, so we'll just have to sit tight until the acquisition goes through before we jump to conclusions.
You'll likely already know that Deadpool 2 is headed back to cinemas - in United Kingdom cases, for one night only - and a new teaser for the tweaked version, Once Upon A Deadpool finds Ryan Reynolds' Wade Wilson being questioned by a captive Fred Savage. But with kidnapping, chest hair and cash grab. You know it, I know it, and Deadpool knows it.
Once Upon a Deadpool will contain footage from Deadpool 2, but edited down to a PG-13 format which means cutting some of the violence and language. And remember, for every ticket sold, $1 will be donated to the charity F-ck Cancer, which is being retitled "Fudge Cancer" for the purposes of this PG-13 release.
Content-wise, Once Upon a Deadpool is going to be a shorter, cleaner version of Deadpool 2, with a new framing device. All in all, there's only about 20 minutes of new material added to the film.
To kick off the holiday season audiences of nearly all ages will soon be able to enjoy the Merc with the Mouth's reimagining of Deadpool 2 filtered through the prism of childlike innocence. Now, this one time, I said "Yes" on two conditions.
Yes, in a massive nod to/wholesale rip-off from The Princess Bride, the adapted sequel will include several wrap-around scenes featuring Deadpool explaining the story to a grown, kidnapped Savage.
