Ant McPartlin is running for best TV presenter at National Television Awards

Postado Janeiro 12, 2019

Piers Morgan has slammed the National Television Awards for nominating Ant McPartlin alongside Declan Donnelly for the Best TV Presenter and The Bruce Forsythe Award despite barely appearing on TV screens previous year after taking time out to focus on his health. "I mean Dec should be getting one this year - solo".

McPartlin was banned from the roads for 20 months and fined £86,000 a year ago following a drink-drive crash in London in March.

"They'll win. Even though Ant's basically been sitting on his backside from what I can see walking his dog for the a year ago. He's got an award!"

"No work, walk the dog, get up, and he still gets nominated for the NTA!"

The pair are loved by millions around the world most notably for their witty presenting on Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway, I'm a Celebrity and on Britain's Got Talent. Despite the fact that Ant was offscreen for most of last year, the pair have been nominated yet again for the Best TV Presenter gong - an award that they have won every year for the past 17 years.

Although Ant has not been seen on screen since the spring, in the pre-recorded audition footage on Britain's Got Talent, he is still in with a chance of bagging the gold for the 18th time.

"Really? You're going to give the award to someone who's not done any work this year".

Anthony McPartlin (L) and Declan Donnelly aka Ant and Dec attend the Virgin TV BAFTA Television Awards at The Royal Festival Hall on May 14, 2017 in London, England.

This time around they're defending their title against Bradley Walsh, Graham Norton, Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield - but just how many times have the duo taken the prize?

Ratings hit Bodyguard is a contender for the best new drama gong, where it faces competition from A Discovery Of Witches, Girlfriends, Killing Eve and The Cry.

Piers also insisted that viewers should vote for them rather than This Morning.
