The RC F range now features the RC F Track Edition, a lighter, stiffer version of the standard vehicle that offers driving enthusiasts "the ability to impress on the track and off".
Of course, as we've already reported, both models are scheduled to launch in South Africa towards the middle of 2019.
Unveiled Monday in Detroit at the 2019 North American International Auto Show was a new RC Track Edition that will sit atop the updated RC F range, which was also shown and is being introduced for 2020.
The Japanese luxury brand claims its performance coupé has been "extensively updated", gaining improved aerodynamics, reduced weight and a retuned suspension set-up. The current RC F is available from £61,310.
The 2020 RC F will be built in the second quarter of 2019.
Changes to the RC F's exterior styling include redesigned headlight clusters with integrated daytime running lights, while a new vent at the bottom of the front grille, reshaped bumper and new tail-lights most clearly differentiate this from the old model.
Developed in conjunction with Lexus's Super GT and IMSA race teams, the Track Edition features a number of modifications aimed at maximising aerodynamic efficiency and enhancing handling performance.
Opt for the RC F Track Edition and you'll see the 0-60 miles per hour run take just 4.0 seconds, even with the car's 472-hp rating matching the standard RC F. The key is a diet rich in carbon fiber and lightweight 19-inch alloys, the latter also helping to reduce unsprung mass. Major panels like the roof and hood are now carbon fiber, as well as a carbon fiber partition behind the front seats replacing the back row. A titanium exhaust and tailpipes are also included, saving further weight and lending the Track Edition what Lexus describes as "a unique sound".
According to Lexus, the RC Track Edition weighs 176 pounds less than the RC F, which itself has been made lighter than last year's model via hollow rear half shafts, aluminum suspension brackets, a pared-down intake manifold and a smaller air conditioning compressor.
Inside, there's red leather upholstery with Alcantara accents, along with red carbon trim for the doors and dashboard.
