In the United States, the Rajinikanth starrer is nearing the 2 million mark (grossed 1.9 million $ so far) and Petta also leads in Canada, Singapore, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, UK and other regions in the overseas market. Superstar Thala Ajith's Viswasam is also having a great show at theaters and also facing the same kind of threat from the piracy source that would affect the films' performance in ticket counters to an extent. The Tamil movie has crossed Rs 50-crore mark in its home territory, while grossing over Rs 75 crore at the worldwide box office in four days. Viswasam has earned Rs 1.05 crore in Chennai on day 4, and with this, the total business of the film stands at Rs 3.83 crore.
Among the overseas centers, Viswasam is doing well in the centres like GCC, Malaysia and France. According to Box Office India, the two-day collections of Petta (all versions) are Rs 35.50 crore nett and the other release Viswasam, which was released only in Tamil, has collected Rs 33.50 crore nett. With Pongal holidays, both the films are expected to take advantage of it and witness a dream run at the ticket windows.
While the opening day was a disappointment for the Rajinikanth's fans as Petta performed under expectations, Petta's collection is quite huge globally.
