The 30th Anniversary Edition unveiled in Chicago features exterior paint and interior accents in an exclusive Racing Orange that Mazda says it developed to evoke "the breaking dawn of an exciting new day", as well as to pay homage to the yellow MX-5 Miata Club Racer that also debuted in Chicago in 1989. Mazda says the auto represents "30 years of endless gratitude" to the enthusiastic fans of the Miata and "commemorates all the milestones and important people" from the car's "special journey".
The much-anticipated 30th Anniversary version of the delightful Mazda MX-5 Miata is here. "It belongs to the fans around the world who have supported the development of the model".
Mazda has also fitted the 30th Anniversary cars with a unique wheel design, manufactured by RAYS Co., finished in a dark gunmetal color and styled after the wheels worn by Global MX-5 Cup race cars. The brake calipers have been painted orange to match the paintwork, and the front stoppers are supplied by Brembo. A Bose sound system is also along for the ride, and the Mazda Connect infotainment system has both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto standard.
Three decades, that's how long the Mazda MX-5 has been in production.
Just four and a half hours after the Miata 30th Anniversary's order books opened up, all 500 units bound for the United States have been sold.
"This is a sports vehicle that has resonated with enthusiastic British drivers ever since its debut and four generations on it's as popular as ever", he added. Marked out by its black two-tone roof, the Retractable Fastback RF is £29 895 (about R528 016), while the convertible is £28 095 (about R496 224). Today it is the very essence of the Jinba Ittai driver-and-car-as-one philosophy that goes into every Mazda. Available to order now, the first United Kingdom customer deliveries will begin in the summer.
