Fans of The Walking Dead have long feared that Danai Gurira would one day exit The Walking Dead after she matched starring in the biggest series on cable television with starring in the biggest movie at the box office past year, Black Panther.
Gurira's MCU character Okoye, the captain of the Dorae Milaje, the Wakandan Royal Guard, fought alongside Earth's Mightiest Heroes in Avengers: Infinity War and will likely play a key role in the upcoming Avengers: Endgame.
She joined the show in season three, yet according to The Hollywood Reporter, the katana-wielding warrior will bow out in season 10. She will appear in a handful of episodes before exiting the series and segueing into The Walking Dead movies starring Andrew Lincoln. But we certainly would want her on the show as long as she wants to be on it.
TooFab reached out to AMC, but the network had no comment. AMC programming president David Madden had this to say about the actress back in November.
"We really want her to stay", he said. After that, her character will leave the post-apocalyptic series forever.
"Obviously, the lesson of Andy is that the show can survive anybody's departure if need be, but that's not our goal".
"She has been very vocal about saying that she loves the show".
"The goal is to have Danai continue on whatever basis she can make work, given the other things that she has going on in her life". "Right now, she's got a lot of opportunities, and she needs to weigh what she feels is best for her".
