According to a report from ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, the Memphis Grizzlies have agreed to a deal to send Marc Gasol to the Toronto Raptors in exchange for Jonas Valanciunas, Delon Wright, C.J. Miles and a 2024 second-round pick.
The 34-year-old Spanish 7-footer (2.16m) has played for the Grizzlies since making his 2008 National Basketball Association debut but was moved to the contending Raptors at Thursday's league trade deadline. Memphis discussed trades with multiple teams, but chose to keep its franchise point guard.
Gasol, 34, is averaging 15.7 points, 8.6 rebounds and a career-high 4.7 assists in 53 games this season. Valanciunas was averaging 12.8 points and 7.2 rebounds at the time of his injury.
Jonas Valanciunas had been sidelined since December 12 (Dec. 13, PHL time) with a dislocated left thumb.
Wright has been with Toronto since being picked 20th overall by the Raptors out of Utah in 2015.
Miles (6-6, 230), who will wear jersey #6, has appeared in 40 games (one start) and has averaged 5.5 points and 1.7 rebounds in 14.1 minutes this season.
It's a bit surprising that this was all they were able to get back for Gasol, but the big man is clearly past his prime and could opt-in to a player option for next season for $25 million.
