An inmate's attempted escape from a county jail in IN proved unsuccessful when he fell through the ceiling Monday night.
Video provided by the Jackson County Jail shows corrections officers gathering beneath a ceiling tile and tasering Ayers after he fell.
He had run into a medical room and locked himself inside after returning from a recreational area, Sheriff Rick Meyer said. Officers used a stun gun to subdue him after he refused to surrender.
Deputies demanded that Ayers come down, but he refused and continued to crawl through the ceiling in an ill-fated attempt to escape the jail, cops said. Ayers, who was originally jailed on a failure to appear warrant for battery, may face additional charges, the sheriff's department said in the press release.
Ayers was treated for minor injuries and charged with attempted escape, a level 5 felony, and criminal mischief, a Class A misdemeanor, cops said.
