Actress Juliette Binoche is urging people to "let justice do what it needs to do" in the case of Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein. "I nearly want to say peace to his mind and heart, that's all", she said at a press conference with her fellow festival jurors. "I'm trying to put my feet in his shoes".
Binoche spoke at the Berlin film festival, where she is jury president. He's had enough, I think.
Mr Weinstein, who worked with Binoche, 54, on The English Patient and Chocolat, denies all allegations that he sexually... Now justice has to do its work. "I think he was a great producer, and that we shouldn't forget even though I know it was hard for directors and actors, and especially actresses".
"I never had problems with him", Juliette said (via THR). "I could see he had problems, but as a producer he was wonderful, most of the time".
Speaking in 2017, Binoche said being assaulted at the age of 18 by another producer had equipped her to deal with Weinstein, saying she "learned early to be responsible". That we shouldn't forget, even though it's been hard for some directors and actors and especially actresses.
Weinstein is now facing criminal charges on five counts of sexual abuse, including rape, relating to two accusers - charges he also denies.
