Dua Lipa very subtly calls out Grammy President in her acceptance speech

Postado Fevereiro 11, 2019

Both St. Vincent and Dua Lipa took home Grammy Awards this year. Lipa was up for the award in the category with many other talented artists including Chloe x Halle, Luke Combs, Greta Van Fleet, H.E.R.

The unlikely duo brought their star power together to do a mashup of Aretha Franklin's "R-E-S-P-E-C-T", St. Vincent's "Masseduction", and Dua Lipa's "One Kiss". While Dua Lipa may not feel super new to us (I'm sorry, where was her Grammy for "IDGAF"?!), she's technically a new artist. Lipa was making a reference to Recording Academy president Neil Portnow's argument that women in music needed to "step up" if they wanted to get recognized for their accomplishments. "I want to say a really big thank you to my fans who have allowed me to be the best version of myself". She also received a Grammy nomination this year for Best Dance Recording for her single "Electricity" with Silk City.

From so-tall-they're-practically-pants boots to a new obsession with giant fluffy hats, Dua Lipa has been serving us some serious looks this year.
