For the past few years, New England's star receiver has been letting his beard grow throughout the season.
Ellen Degeneres, you see, made him an offer he could not refuse.
After three years as the quarterback for the Kent State University Golden Flashes, Julian Edelman knew he was going to have to change positions if he was ever going to make an National Football League roster. Ellen eventually got Edelman to agree to the beard shaving by saying she would donate $10,000 to the Boys & Girls Club if he let her break out the razor.
Edelman taped an interview with Ellen Degeneres on "The Ellen Show" that aired on Friday.
"I love you, beard", he joked before the big cut. "So this is like a full-family kind of win", he said. And my mother, being the loving little lady that she is, I was never late to a practice, she was always there.
New England is now favored to win Super Bowl LIV, and rightfully so. Edelman was named the Most Valuable Player. "I have to shower after I eat". After being told the Patriots would be calling his name, Bill Belichick got on the phone and muttered the first words he ever said to the future Super Bowl MVP. Ellen shaved it off.
