Tommy Fleetwood plays his shot from the sixth tee during the first round of THE PLAYERS Championship golf tournament at TPC Sawgrass - Stadium Course.
But the biggest roar came for Moore when he struck a 121-yard sandwedge dead on, his ball striking the pin and shooting straight into the cup.
"That ace on 17 was pretty unbelievable", said Moore.
"I have certainly made some birdies, I've definitely hit it in the water a few times, but at this point who hasn't, after my 12th time or so playing this event". If I can win one event, everything will be easier. He hit it perfectly but, with the pin at the front of the green, he was anxious the ball might spin into the water.
Woods is the only player in this week's Players Championship field who has won the event. Phil Mickelson tweeted on Sunday.
That's exactly the prank that awaited a handful of golfers this week...
Harris English finished the first round of The Players Championship at 2-under in large part to his performance on the 11th hole at TPC Sawgrass.
Now, can you imagine finally getting your shot at the 17th, only to be told at the very last minute you wouldn't be able to tee it up? Eventually, Gutkowski gives up the gig and lets the groups play but some of these guys looked like they were ready to fight for their right to play. The next year the event moved from March to May and he missed the next eight cuts.
Kiradech, 29, recalled his horror show on the 17th hole past year where he was six over on that hole alone during the weekend rounds.
He also has some good memories from the hole, however. In fact, it was just Taylor's third round in the 60's at The Players.
For Mickelson, the 17th is an unforgiving hole that demands a player commit completely to his shot.
"The wind picked up and there were some tough holes there", he said.
"It's an all-or-nothing type shot".
